Cellular phone technology has dramatically changed eavesdropping techniques. On return the owner's negotiating-positions may change dramatically... Since the airwaves are full with cellular phone transmissions, it is almost impossible to locate such cell-phone-based bugging devices. This task becomes even harder since transmission occurs only when the eavesdropper calls the cellular bug; hence practically - unless one knows where to look for - there is no way of detecting such bugs.

It does not allow one to listen in on cellular phone conversations!

By using pattern matching technology, the CSPD is able to differentiate between signaling activity such as SMS messages sent or periodic registration updates generated automatically by the GSM phone, and actual voice or data calls.

The CSPD is optimized for use on GSM, PCS and Nextel networks. CDMA is currently detectable only at short range. This deficiency will be corrected at next upgrade which will be available to existing users in the form of a slot card.

The CSPD is passive (does not transmit) and is not subject to any regulatory restrictions.

The CSPD is based on a modified hand held computer and a Compact Flash card extension. The computer is fully functioning except that the microphone is disabled. The CSPD software runs on Pocket PC 2002 and is activated using a stylus pen and a touch screen.
